DO-254 Complex Hardware Development & Certification
What Phase is Your DO-254 Hardware Project In?
Design & Architecture Phase
The DO-254 Hardware Design & Architecture Phase uses the outputs of the Requirements Phase to develop the Low Level Requirements. These Low Level Requirements include details on the design and architecture that can be used to implement Hardware Code.
The inputs to the Design & Architecture Phase are as follows:
- Hardware Requirements Document (HRD)
- Hardware Signal Dictionary (HSD)
- Hardware Development Plan
- Hardware Requirements, Design, and Implementation Standards (HRDIS)
The outputs of the Design & Architecture Phase are as follows:
- Hardware Design Document (HDD)
- Hardware Signal Data Dictionary (HSDD)
Hardware Design Document (HDD)
This document describes the conceptual and detailed design data necessary to implement the hardware item consistently with its requirements. Depending on the hierarchical level of the hardware item, this may include top-level drawing, assembly drawings, interconnection data, parts data, HDL hardware description, reliability data, test methodology data, list of unused functions in selected components and actions taken to assure they will not compromise the safety of the hardware item, installation control data, and hardware/software interface data.
Hardware Signal Data Dictionary (HSDD)
This document contains the consolidated list of the input and output names and definitions used in the HDL implementation of the hardware requirements.
